Cynthia Andersen has been involved in art for much of her life. Born in Minnesota, she has a degree in illustration from Art Center College of Design in California and a minor in science. Her fine art ceramic pieces ranging from beautiful vases and platters to handmade tiles are decorated with an exquisite ancient horse theme that reflects the artist’s interest in the Paleolithic cave art of France and the rest of the World. Each piece is done by hand and no two are alike. After years of studying and traveling worldwide, Cynthia re-interpreted the cave art she so admires and developed original images that are simple, yet evoke strong images of movement and primitive beauty. The balance of her designs creates a feeling of peace and harmonies with the past, yet the sophistication of her images are appropriate for the 21st century and beyond. According to the artist, pre-history diaries record man’s homage to the horse and cave art was an extension of their artistic legacy to this four-legged wonder. “This Paleolithic art form represents a monumental moment in time, for it is the first evidence of man’s ability to think abstractly, taking images from the three dimensional world and bringing them into a two dimensional creation that reflects simple, spiritual sophistication.” Ms. Andersen was named Strathmore Who’s Who of California Artists for 2005. Previously named Who’s Who of American Artists, she has also been featured in Los Angeles Magazine and Designer West Magazine. Her artwork graces the lobby walls of the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas and her works have been bought or commissioned by Sting, Magic Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Boris Becker.
